Chomsky Meets Coco the Clown
I hope this profile doesn't come under the category of 'time wasters' in that, at the minute, I'm working in Saudi Arabia, on a two-year contract, which I'm not free from for eighteen months. However, I have pretty well three months break during this summer, so it would be nice to set up email correspondences before I come back then.
I think I'm quite a good example of a Sagitarrian, in that part of me is a culture-vulture, academic, intellectual type (Prof of Maths. here in Saudi) but the horse part of me is a clown. The thing I like most in life is making a women laugh. When I was working in Britain, I used to give a Christmas lecture, based on 'Who's Line is it Anyway' in which I gave my students a choice of a maths lecture in the style of Prince Charles, Billy Connelly or Fred Dibnah.
I very Sagitarrian as well in like wilderness scenery. The photo I'm attaching shows me on the Hebredean island of Rhum. I think it's the most magical place in the whole of Britain. It's a nature reserve and the resident population is only 20. It's mile after mile of mountain chains, empty glens and lochs and deserted white-sand beaches open to the Atlantic.
My wife, whom I adored, suffered severe brain damage three years ago, so I'm in something of a 'Sleepless in Seattle' position. I don't believe in anything very much: I think politics and society are mostly a racket, I'm a total atheist, I think contemporary culture is junk. However, I do believe in relations between the sexes: in their mutual ability to enliven each other, to make life come alive.
