I place the notion of Romantic love above all, and am quite taken with concepts such as "soulmates". I believe that love is the greatest thing, and the only way we have of getting through the bad parts that life throws at us. I've always fallen in love quite deeply and strongly, and had many many crushes. I believe in monogamy and fidelity although generally I think it is up to others how they run their relationships, as long as all parties involved know exactly what the deal is and no one is getting hurt.
I also find myself very drawn to any representation of obsessive love, in books, on tv, in films, plays, operas, music or real life. There is something fascinating about intense, unruly passion.
I'm quite geeky, as I like sci-fi, some gaming, and other pursuits such as creative writing, reading, drawing, and my current obsession: digital photography.
I see myself as quite liberal in the sense that I think as long as you are not hurting anyone, it is up to you how you live your life. I'm a pacifist and vegetarian. I'm not preachy about it, as these are my personal choices and I wouldn't impose them on others.
I like to think of myself as a "nice" person, but not very normal. I'm not really into the whole clubbing and going out drinking thing.... it is okay with close friends or on occassion but isn't really my scene. I do generally prefer the quiet life, which makes me sound really boring. I'd rather be out taking photographs on a deserted beach somewhere than shopping for the latest fashion, and picnicking with wine on a golden Autumn afternoon that hitting the town. (definately Autumn not Summer, as I despise being too warm.)
I have no real concern for sport or the health obsession that currently grips the UK. I like walking, and used to enjoy a spot of fencing, but don't watch sport on tv or play it. I disbelieve that being thin is necessarily the only route to beauty, and think people of all shapes and sizes can be attractive.
In terms of what I find physically attractive in others, it can be anything. I do have a type, but have liked people who are totally different. That type tends to be men with long hair, or well looked after hair. I also admire this in an envious kind of way in women, as I can never get my hair to go right. This sounds very vain and shallow, and probably is.
Personality wise, in partners and in friends, I detest arrogance. Being self assured is one thing, but I find bullies abhorent. I don't tend to connect well with "popular" types, and although I would never be unfriendly to them, I don't seek out their approval at all.
I'm quite physically affectionate.
I like almost nothing better than holidays, and look forward to them for months in advance. I don't need luxury hotels, as I am just as happy to camp (on an actual campsite, not sure how I would fare in the wild) or stay at a cheap but cheery B&B. Although I would like to see the world and travel, finances often restrict me to the UK, but that is okay as I love places like the Lake District.
I suppose I'm intelligent, but not in a very practical way.
